A License Audit Model for Secure DRM Systems in IP-based Environments
نویسندگان
چکیده
Communication devices aim to provide a multimedia service without spatial or temporal limitations in an IP-based environment. However, it is incapable of allowing for fair use by consumers who legally buy content, and damages provider contents through the indiscriminate distribution and use of illegal contents. The DRM system that emerged to solve this problem cannot protect licenses stored on communication devices, and manage licenses by redistribution. This paper proposes a license audit model, which checks for illegal access, modification and redistribution, and reports alert logs to the server. Keywords—Digital Forensic, DRM, IP-Based Network

Trusted License Distribution System Based on IPSec VPN for Mobile DRM
With the rapid development of mobile applications, DRM systems used for mobile terminals and wireless environment become popular. However, the present DRM schemes are not fit for mobile applications because of the new security problems in wireless environment and the limitations of mobile terminals. In this paper, a trusted license distribution system based on IPSec VPN and its correlative issu...
متن کاملHow to Manage Persistent State in DRM Systems
Digital Rights Managements (DRM) systems often must manage persistent state, which includes protected content, an audit trail, content usage counts, certificates and decryption keys. Ideally, persistent state that has monetary value should be stored in a physically secure server. However, frequently the persistent state may need to be stored in a hostile environment. For example, for good perfo...
متن کاملHow to Increase the Security of Digital Rights Management Systems Without Affecting Consumer's Security
The paper starts with a description of the fundamental principles of modern Digital Rights Management Systems. This is the basis for the discussion of their most important security aspects from the provider’s view on the one hand and the customer’s view on the other hand. The second half of the paper focuses the new DRM standard from the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) and its implementation on “ope...
متن کاملDRM, Trusted Computing and Operating System Architecture
Robust technological enforcement of DRM licenses assumes that the prevention of direct access to the raw bit representation of decrypted digital content and the license enforcement mechanisms themselves is possible. This is difficult to achieve on an open computing platform such as a PC. Recent trusted computing initiatives namely, the Trusted Computing Group (TCG) specification, and Microsoft’...
متن کاملMapping of McGraw Cycle to RUP Methodology for Secure Software Developing
Designing a secure software is one of the major phases in developing a robust software. The McGraw life cycle, as one of the well-known software security development approaches, implements different touch points as a collection of software security practices. Each touch point includes explicit instructions for applying security in terms of design, coding, measurement, and maintenance of softwar...
